Smart Water Meter Solutions
Based on Tuya's global AI+IoT (AIoT) platform and smart solutions, water meter manufacturers can upgrade traditional water meters into smart ones. Featuring global deployment and easy control by using an app, smart water meters enable flow measurement, remote control, and alerting. Smart water meters can seamlessly integrate with platform as a service (PaaS) systems for resource management in different fields of application. It supports various communication modules, such as NB-IoT, Wi-Fi, and Zigbee. Tuya also provides professional app panels that enable you to deliver an excellent user interaction experience. Tuya offers products and services in the fields of cloud access, app panels, cloud platforms, and scenario PaaS to empower water meters.
Application Scenario
Rental room
In rental houses, it is a common practice to measure water consumption in independent rooms separately. This ensures that water bills are reasonably shared among tenants. Pain point 1: inconvenience of checking water consumption In most cases, water meters in a building are installed in a separate area, such as a water meter cabinet near passageways or an underground chamber. As a result, tenants cannot easily check their actual water consumption. With Tuya's smart solutions, tenants can check their water consumption by using the app. Pain point 2: no alerts for tampering with water meters Traditional water meters do not generate alerts if they are tampered with. Smart water meters not only detect exceptions, such as meter dismantling, magnetic interference, and abnormal readings, but also immediately trigger and report alerts. Pain point 3: prepayment not supported Traditional water meters do not support prepayment. With Tuya's smart water meter solutions to support the prepayment function. Tenants can check the balances of their accounts and add funds in advance, which helps reduce the administrative workload of landlords.
Apartment
Smart water meters and electricity meters are independently installed in each room to measure electricity and water consumption. This way, apartment managers can easily determine and charge power and water rates per room, regularly upload meter reading records, and remotely monitor the meter status. Tenants can check energy and resource consumption on the app panel and add funds to their accounts through mobile payments. Pain point 1: heavy workload for manual meter reading Due to the tedious process of manual meter reading, data cannot be updated in a timely manner. Smart meters support remote communication. Consumption data can be reported, collected, stored, and checked easily. Pain point 2: utility arrears Tenants might fail to pay utilities on time due to various reasons, and this affects the operation of the property management company. The prepayment function enables tenants to pay their utilities in advance. Pain point 3: no alerts for exceptions Traditional water meters cannot report an alert in a timely manner when abnormal conditions occur, such as the failure to shut off valves and long-term pipeline leakage. In contrast, smart water meters can immediately report and push an alert to the concerned party.
Industry and commerce
Many industries and commercial sectors consume large quantities of water. Smart water meters can collect and compare water consumption data from the pipe system as well as monitor the running flow and pressure of the pipelines. This helps realize the optimal allocation of water resources, save water and reduce emissions, and gradually optimize the water consumption per unit of GDP. Pain point 1: considerable water loss due to pipeline leakage and inconsistent data availability upstream and downstream of the pipeline Compared with their traditional counterparts, smart water meters enable users to compare meter reading data regularly, identify the source and location of leaks online, and immediately resolve these water leaks. This way, a large amount of water can be saved from wastage due to pipeline leaks. Pain point 2: tedious meter reading and billing Traditional water meters in a water metering system have the challenge of reading meters and billing households. Smart water meters can be paired to the app, making meter reading and billing easier and more transparent to customers. This helps eliminate customers' concerns about their water bills and increases the recovery rate of water bill arrears. Pain point 3: high water consumption per unit of GDP With Tuya's smart meter solutions, water meters support backend data presentation and analysis, which can be used to customize water-saving and emission reduction plans for a specified water use scenario.
Solution Advantages
Different product combinations
By using Tuya's smart water meter solutions, you can: 1. Connect a single smart meter to Tuya Cloud Platform through Tuya's wireless modules. 2. Connect one or more meter devices designed with Tuya-supported protocols to Tuya Cloud Platform through Tuya's general gateways. 3. Connect sub-devices designed with Tuya-supportted private protocols to Tuya Cloud Platform through private gateways and Tuya's wireless modules or the SDK uplink.
Flexible access to Tuya Cloud Platform
1. Tuya Cloud Platform provides diversified wireless modules, such as NB-IoT, Wi-Fi + Bluetooth, and Zigbee. You can connect your devices to Tuya Cloud Platform by connecting the MCU serial ports of your devices to wireless modules. Tuya supports multiple communication protocols. 2. Manufacturers with advanced technology development capabilities can use the wireless chips supported by Tuya to integrate the Tuya SDK and connect to Tuya Cloud Platform. 3. You can integrate the Tuya SDK to Linux or Android systems running on smart devices and connect to the Tuya Cloud Platform through wired Ethernet or wireless networks provided by operators.
Powerful and flexible cloud platforms
1. Modular architecture: Raw data and scenario data can be separately managed with the data architectures of the basic IoT PaaS and industry PaaS cloud platforms. 2. Flexible interfaces: Data of different categories of smart devices are tagged. Therefore, you can easily switch the data exchange interfaces. 3. Powerful algorithms: Tuya's unique AI algorithms help improve the efficiency of water distribution and consumption management across different scenarios.
Multi-industry PaaS support
Tuya provides smart solutions for different industries, which include PaaS solutions for scenarios such as apartments, hotels, communities, rental rooms, and industry. Smart water meters can be used in every water metering scenario for efficient measurement and control of water usage. Based on Tuya's standard protocols, the smart water meters support parallel control and management from the app panel and the PaaS system.
Solution Functions
Measurement of water consumption
Smart water meters support high-precision measurement of data such as water consumption, water rates, and pipeline pressure. Based on visualized data, you can easily measure water consumption in specific scenarios and verify the quality of the pipe system.
Data display
With Tuya's smart meter solutions, water meters regularly report water consumption data to Tuya Cloud Platform, where data is stored securely for water consumption tracking. Users can view the hourly water consumption data for the last seven days or the daily water consumption data for the last year on the app panel or through the PaaS system.
Remote control and protection
Users can remotely open or close the valve on a smart water meter on the app panel or through the PaaS system. This function is especially useful when the devices are deployed outdoors. It enables users to easily control these devices and view their actual status in the app without leaving their homes.
Threshold alert
The app panel supports a maximum of thirteen types of exception alerts, which enables manufacturers to use differentiated product functions. Once an exception occurs, the smart water meters report an alert to the app. Then, the app pushes a notification to remind users to promptly resolve the exception. To respond to some types of exceptions, users can also configure the counteractions that the smart water meters can take.
